Waseem Jafar came to America in 1980 to study architecture. To pay his way through college, Waseem worked at a color separation and retouching studio, simply because it was on his way to school and allowed flexible hours. He became interested in the art of retouching and eventually opened his own studio, Nimrod Systems, in 1993. Over the next seventeen years, Nimrod built a reputation as one of the premier boutique creative retouching studios, staying on the leading edge in a constantly-changing environment, never losing sight of the principle that quality endures. With the increasing level of complexity that today’s visuals demand, it became obvious that Nimrod needed to morph into a bigger studio. Palinopsia quietly opened its doors in 2010, and has been building on the success of Nimrod, focused on the exciting work of CG and motion while encompassing the expanded capabilities that Nimrod offered... exactly the way Waseem planned it when he interviewed for the part-time job in 1980!
Unable to reveal his true identity for security reasons, “Jayson Bimber” sunburns easily and is an avid painter of pet portraits. Jayson frequently notes that if he had to go back and do it all over again, he would be a Harlem Globetrotter, specializing in spinning the ball on his finger. Educated in witchcraft, Jayson specializes in expelling the images that exist only in your head. Raised in Pennsylvania, and schooled in New York, Jayson recently surfaced in Chicago doing psychic sketches on Navy Pier for tourists. Hardened on the mean streets of Nimrod Systems, Jayson now applies his trade for the good at Palinposia.
Zaidi’s three-decade long career as a khopesh-wielding adventurer came to an abrupt end when he realized that aforementioned persona was entirely a figment of his imagination. Reemerging into a real world of sorts, Sehban found himself studying film at Oberlin and NYU/Tisch. Since then, Zaidi has inexplicably managed to produce a number of successful motion projects including the award-winning documentary “Severe Clear.” His directing & producing credits include the acclaimed “Freedom Sound.” Besides his work on TVC and web spots, Sehban’s short films have been selected for numerous international film festivals. He now finds himself in indentured servitude at Palinopsia, having been coaxed in with the promise of chocolate chip cookies.
Brad is known for his love of BBQ and can frequently be found sniffing out the trail of smoked meats like a bloodhound on the trail of an escaped con. Born in Florida, Brad was taken in by a band of feral hunter gatherers and moved across the country. He mistakenly enrolled at Ringling College of Art in 1994, thinking he had joined their circus as a caretaker for exotic animals. After countless failed attempts at “introducing” animal husbandry to the school, Ringling sprung him (to his surprise and confusion) with a degree in Illustration. The next decade or so saw Brad chained to a desk creating computer-generated environments for the video game industry for clients such as Disney, Activision, Midway, Atari, Sega and NC Soft. Braving another daring escape, Taylor recently made his way north to Chicago, hobo-style via boxcar. The sound of a monkey grinder brought him to the doorstep of Palinopsia where he brings his love of art and technology together to create imaginative imagery that would make his hunter-gatherer and DAR ancestors proud.
